Lin Chiling to take acting classes after series failure

Taiwan model-actress Lin Chiling expressed her disappointment over the dismal ratings of her Japanese drama serial "Moonlight Lovers" and revealed that she hopes to take some acting classes next year, reported Chinese media.


Speaking to reporters while attending the high-profile Royal Ascot horse races in the UK, Lin was evasive and said, "Could we not talk about the ratings (of "Moonlight Lovers")? Frankly, I am a little depressed at the moment."

"I want to take this chance to take in as much air as I can. This can be considered a short break!" Lin added.

"Moonlight Lovers", which also stars Japanese superstar Takuya Kimura, tanked in Japan, managing only 13.4 per cent in ratings. Its average ratings also lost out to other J-dramas this season.

The drama's producer, Fuji Television, was reportedly so disappointed that it intends to cut short the show's run to eight episodes instead of the usual ten for a drama in the 9pm time slot, with its finale scheduled to air on July 5 in Japan.

Many netizens had blamed the drama's poor ratings on a bad script and Lin's acting. Despite this setback, Lin said she "will improve in the areas I am weak in and satisfy everyone".

The 35-year-old went on to reveal that she hopes to make time for acting classes at the beginning of next year.

The top 10 list of female stars are Rainie Yang, Megan Lai, Joe Chen, Ariel Lin, Lin Chi-ling, Barbie Hsu, Angela Chang, Bianca Bai, Coco Chiang, and finally, Cyndi Wang.

Wacoal signs up Hamasaki for underwear ads in Asian market

Lingerie maker Wacoal has signed up singer Ayumi Hamasaki, 29, for its lingerie advertising campaign in the Asian market. According to Wacoal, photos of Hamasaki in Wacoal underwear will be used for advertisements in China, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Vietnam from the end of July. The ads will not be used in Japan, the company said.
A spokesperson for Wacoal said, "Ms Hamasaki has the highest profile in Asia and is supported by females fans in their 20s who are our target consumers." The company is expecting a synergy effect from the ads with her Asian tour in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Taiwan from Sept 20.

Wonder Girls to Debut in US

The Wonder Girls, the five-girl pop group and sensation of the year, are expected to perform in the United States for the first time next year. The group, created by singer and producer Park Jin-young (also known as JYP), will make a guest appearance at his concerts next February in New York and Los Angeles. ``The Wonder Girls will be appearing as guest singers in Park's concert and will sing their hit `Tell me.' It will be their first U.S performance and it will hopefully be an interesting and exciting experience for them. However, we don't have any specific plans for their debut in the U.S.,'' said JYP entertainment. The agency explained that no specific dates or plans have been confirmed yet, but that the Wonder Girls will be learning some new dance moves from Park himself and other well-known professionals as soon as they arrive in the U.S. The Wonder Girls have been one of the most popular groups this year with their hit song ``Tell me'' and their cute and sexy dance moves. Many people have created and posted UCCs (User Created Contents), or video clips, on the Internet copying their choreography. Stuntman killed! Six others Burned Because of "Red Cliff" Reported in CNN

A stuntman was killed on the set of Chinese blockbuster "Red Cliff" on Monday, local media reported yesterday. The John Woo-directed historical action drama is based on a famous battle during the Three Kingdoms period of ancient China. CNN reports that the scene - supervised by a second-unit director - featured a small boat set aflame, which was meant to collide safely with a larger warship fitted as the day's set. After the collision the fire burned out of control on both ships. A 23-year-old stuntman died and six others were injured. Production has been halted temporarily. The $80-million production is said to be the most expensive in Asian movie history. Starring Tony Leung Chiu Wai, the cast also includes Japanese actors Kaneshiro Takeshi and Nakamura Shido.
